Adding Assignments in SafeAssign

Go to the TEACH tab and click on the SafeAssign link on your homepage. Click on Create SafeAssignment. The following screen should appear.

Now you will just need to fill out the information on this page. What will the title of the assignment be? Will there be instructions you want to provide for them in the description? What is the due date and time of this assignment? Students can submit before and after this date and time. There is no end date and time currently. There will soon be an Availibility Date link.

Draft

If you want, you can have the students submit a draft or the actual finished assignment. By default they cannot submit a draft so you will need to decide what they will be submitting.

Student Viewable

f you allow it students can see a report of their submission. Don't worry because they cannot see any other report but their own. This is a great way for students to see how correct citation could help them with online resources. The report could also tell them how to flub their way through the next assignment and fine tune it.

Urgent Checking

This will allow you to tell SafeAssign how fast you want them to check the assignments once they are submitted by the student. In general, a report is provided within minutes.

Viewing Student Submissions

To view the submissions of your students go to the TEACH tab and click on the SafeAssign link on the homepage. You should see the following screen.

In the list you will see all of the assignments you have created for your students to submit. If you need to edit any information you can click on the Edit link of the particular assignment.

To see the submissions for a particular assignment, click on the title of that assignment. The following screen should appear, give or take the number of submitted assignments for the given course.

Each student who has submitted will have an SA Report next to their name. This is the report that tells you about the particular paper. It usually takes 5-15 minutes for the report to be generated once the student submits their paper. If you want to download the files to then read and grade them, click the box next to Assigned To and then it will select everyone's files. Click on Download All. A zip file will now be created for all of the submission files and you can then download it to your computer and then read them.

Grading

SafeAssign is not directly connected to the gradebook function in WebCT. You will have to create a column in the gradebook for this assignment and then type the grades in there as well. If you want, you can create the same assignmnet in both your SafeAssign dropbox and the Assignment tool. That way the student will have to submit two times and you can grade it right in the Assignmnet Dropbox after you receive the SA Report.

How to Interpret SA Report

Once the students have submitted you will be able to see an individual report on each student. Once you have clicked on the next to the student's name, you will see something similar to the screen below.
