My Settings Tool

Definition:
Use My Settings to view and edit your profile, set options for tools and view all your current enrollment information and rolls.

Accessing My Settings

The My Settings link is always available from the logo bar at the top of the myWebCT page in the right-hand corner. If you are working within a course, you will need to return to the myWebCT page to access it.

Editing Your Profile

If you are a Section Instructor, Teaching Assistant, Student or Auditor, your profile is visible to members in courses where the Roster tool has been added. If you are an administrator or designer, your profile is not visible to others. However, your profile information may be used for purposes such as reporting.

Click Edit Profile. Edit the available fields. To make the information visible to other users,
click Public next to your information. Click Save.

Setting Your Tool Options

Tool options are personal and apply only to you. The options you set here are default, which means they apply to all of the courses you are enrolled in and are always in effect when you first enter a course.

1. Click My Tool Options.

  • Calendar: Decide whether you want month, week or day view to display. You can also specify the day that determines the start of the week from the drop-down list.
  • Discussions: Specify where you want to display your posted messages as read. Do you want discussions to appear threaded or unthreaded? How do you want your new messages to show and what messages do you want to see.
  • Fonts: Select the font size and type to display your courses in by selecting from the drop-down list.
  • HTML Creator: You can select this function to start up by default in all of your classes.
  • Language: This is set to English so you cannot change this option.
  • Mail: If you want to forward a copy of your mail messages to an external account you can select the forwarding option. You can also decide how you want messages to show.
  • Paging: Select the default number of items to be displayed on each page by specifying a value in the text box.
  • Who's Online: Specify your default online status.

Viewing Your Enrollment Information

Click My Roles. This tab displays all of your current enrollment information. Enrollment indicates whether you are assigned a role such a Teaching Assistant, Section Instructor or Designer, Student, etc.
